£325,000 CARRIAGEWAY IMPROVEMENTS
Three locations in Caithness: A99 Occumster, A99 Borrowston and A9 Mybster
Works starts Monday 13 March
Two locations on the A99 at Occumster and Borrowston and one on the A9 at Mybster in Caithness are set to be improved as resurfacing works get underway next week.
The works will be carried out between 7am and 7pm at each location, with the schemes programmed as follows:
• A99 Occumster –Monday 13 March for four days
• A99 Borrowston –Monday 20 March for two days
• A9 Mybster –Monday 27 March for six days
The road will remain open at all three locations, however to keep roadworkers and road users safe a 10mph convoy system of traffic management will be in place during working hours. The convoy will be removed overnight however a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Commenting on the improvements, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit Representative said:
“This latest investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to improve the condition of these three sections of the A99 and A9, addressing any cracks, defects or other issues in the road surface.
“We’ve planned these works to take place ahead of the peak-tourist season to minimise any disruption to the local economy. Although we expect delays to be minimal we would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and to allow extra time for travel.”
