A9 Drumochter, northbound

Works begin on Monday 19 June for ten days

Motorists using the northbound A9 at Drumochter will benefit from an improved road surface as £450,000 of resurfacing works are set to be carried out later this month.

The surfacing improvements to a 1km section of the northbound A9 dual carriageway will provide a smoother and safer road for road users.

The project will begin on Monday 19 June from 7am to 7pm, and will last for 10 days, with no weekend working currently planned.

A 10mph convoy system will be in operation on the northbound carriageway while works are undertaken to maintain the safety of both road workers and road users. Out with working hours a lane closure will remain in place for safety until the resurfacing is complete.

Due to the nature and location of the resurfacing operations, the Trinafour junction will be closed during operations.  A signed diversion route will be in place via the B847 during the improvements.

Other than restricted access to the Trinafour junction southbound traffic will be unaffected.

Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “The surfacing improvements will help address the defects on this section of the A9 and greatly improve the surface for motorists.

“We’ve planned the works to take place outwith the busy weekend period to limit the impact to motorists, and our teams will do all they can to minimise any disruption during the improvements.

“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information before setting off.”
