Surfacing improvements planned for A85 east of Benmore

Works start Sunday 16 July for five nights

Essential resurfacing works are planned for a section of the A85 east of Benmore due to get underway from Sunday 16 July

Recent inspections have highlighted that the road surfacing material used in a previous resurfacing scheme in 2014 is deteriorating earlier than anticipated, and a full repair is being carried out by the contractor.

The scheme will take place overnight from Sunday 16 July for five nights, between 9pm and 6am.

To keep everyone safe during the works, overnight closures are required to complete the works, with diversions in place for road users.  Motorists will be diverted via the A84, A81, A811 and A82. Outwith working hours, traffic management will be removed and the road fully opened, however a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary road surface. Local access will be maintained during the improvements when it is safe to pass through the work site.

Commenting on the improvements, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said:  “These essential surfacing works are required to address the condition of this section of the A85 to the east of Benmore.

“While we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the work at night, we have listened to feedback to the community and arranged for the works to take place from 9pm each night to further limit any impact.

“We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and to allow extra time for their journey.”
