£395,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

A9 North of Ardullie Roundabout to Evanton

Overnight works begin Sunday 8 October for ten nights

Motorists using the A9 north of Inverness are to benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works to a 1km section of the route are set to begin on Sunday night.

The surfacing improvements are programmed to take up to ten nights to complete starting Sunday 8 October between 7pm and 7am, Sunday nights to Friday mornings, with no work scheduled on Friday or Saturday nights.

The road will remain open, however, to ensure the safety of road users and road workers temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation during working hours. Traffic management will be removed out with working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, although a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running on a temporary surface.

Due to the location of the works, access to and from Foulis Station Road from the A9 will be closed for safety during working hours.  Diversions will be in place via Drummond Road and the B817.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This investment from Transport Scotland will allow our teams to ensure the A9 continues to provide a safe and reliable route for motorists.

“We appreciate works of this nature can be disruptive and the programme has been planned out with the peak tourist season and the works planned overnight to further limit any impact.

“We would encourage motorists to allow some extra time and to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date information.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @trafficscotland.
