Temporary traffic lights added to A82 south of Pulpit Rock

A lane closure and temporary traffic lights have been added to a section of the southbound carriageway on the A82 south of Pulpit Rock to allow teams to safely inspect an area of embankment showing signs of erosion at the edge of the road.

The lights, approximately 600m south of Pulpit Rock, will allow geotechnical specialist contractors to carry out initial investigations to a short section of the road next to the loch.    BEAR Scotland’s landscaping team will then attend the site to remove vegetation to allow for further ground investigations to take place if deemed necessary.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “Our geotechnical teams require access to an area of the embankment at the side of the A82 to carry out some ground investigations and the lights are needed to help them do this safely.

“In the meantime we are not expecting significant delays but motorists should plan their journeys in advance and check the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information."

Real-time journey information is available form Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @trafficscotland.
