£315,000 OVERNIGHT RESURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

A90 Cammachmore, Northbound

Works start Monday 13 November for up to ten nights

A section of the northbound A90 at Cammachmore is set to benefit from £315,000 overnight resurfacing works starting next week.

This section of the A90 is used by over 17,000 vehicles every day and it now requires upgrading to create a smoother and safer route for motorists.

The resurfacing works will begin on Monday 13 November at 7.30pm and is programmed to take place over ten nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. The resurfacing improvements will be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 25 November.  No works shall take place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November to avoid disruption to motorists over the weekend.   The southbound A90 will be unaffected during these works.

A 10mph convoy system will be used during the works to ensure the safety of the work force and the travelling public, although this will be removed outside of working hours.

Consultation has taken place with local residents in advance of the resurfacing to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Commenting on the improvements, Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “These works will repair a number of potholes and other issues which will improve the general condition and safety of the road for motorists at this location.

“We’ve planned the works to take place overnight and avoid working on Saturday or Sunday nights to limit the impact of this scheme, however, we encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @ trafficscotland.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
