TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS INSTALLED FOR SAFETY ON A92 ANNSMUIR RAIL BRIDGE DUE TO DAMAGED SAFETY BARRIER

Motorists are advised that temporary traffic lights have been installed on the A92 for safety at Annsmuir Rail Bridge, approximately half a mile north of Ladybank.

The lights were installed after a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Sunday evening damaged the safety barriers across one side of Annsmuir Rail Bridge, and temporary traffic lights have been put in place to keep motorists away from the damaged barrier until a repair can be completed.

Engineers have inspected the area and preparations are underway to carry out a repair to the damaged areas of the safety barrier.  To ensure all road users are kept safe, the temporary traffic lights will remain in place until a full repair to the barrier can be completed.  The traffic signals will be monitored and manually operated at peak times to minimise disruption to road users as much as possible.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative said: “Safety on trunk roads is of the utmost importance and until a full repair can be completed the traffic lights are essential to keep motorists away from the damaged section of the bridge.

“Our teams will do all they can to carry out the repair as quickly and safely as possible so the A92 can be reopened to both lanes, and in the meantime they’ll make sure to minimise disruption to all road users.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while we carry out these repairs and encourage them to plan ahead by checking with Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information.”
