A85 Auchlyne

Works start Monday 15 July for up to three weeks

Motorists using the A85 east of Crainlarich are set to benefit from an improved road surface as £430,000 worth of resurfacing works are set to be carried out next week.

Following on from surfacing improvements completed along sections of the route in the area last year, the project will see further surfacing works completed along a 5km area of carriageway on the A85 at Auchlyne, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

The project is set to begin on Monday 15 July and is programmed to take up to three weeks to complete. The surfacing improvements will take place between 7am and 7pm each day, with no works taking place at the weekends.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, there will be a 10mph convoy system in place during the improvements. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a 30mph temporary speed limit will remain in place as vehicles will be travelling over a temporary surface. The A85 will remain open throughout the project.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “The £430,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow our teams to carry out this essential resurfacing project at this section of the A85, greatly improving the condition and safety of the route in this area.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and road users, however we’ve taken steps to help minimise disruption for motorists by avoiding working over the weekend period.

“Our teams will look to do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible. We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out the project. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website before setting off for up to date traffic information.”
