A82 Well of the Seven Heads, Loch Oich

Works start Monday 2 September for eight days

Motorists using the A82 near Invergarry are set to benefit from an improved road surface as road maintenance works are set to begin next month.

The £155,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see improvements to a section of the A82 almost 1.5km long starting at the Well of the Seven Heads monument next to Loch Oich, around two miles south of Invergarry, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The improvements are scheduled to start on Monday 2 September and will take up to eight days to complete. The project will take place between 7am and 7pm each day with no works carried out on Saturday or Sunday.  The surfacing improvements are expected to be completed by 7pm on Wednesday 11 September.

To ensure the safety of road workers and road users, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place during the project. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said. “These works will greatly improve the road surface on this section of the A82 next to Loch Oich, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.

“We have taken steps to help minimise disruption for road users as much as possible during the project including by avoiding working on Saturday and Sunday. The traffic management in place is essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and road users, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would encourage them to plan their journeys before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland wesite for up to date travel information.”
