A82 Altrua, Loch Lochy

Project begins on Sunday 15 September for five nights

·         Overnight road closure in place for safety, 8pm-6am

A section of the A82 at Altrua next to Loch Lochy is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £145,000.

The improvements to the 500m section of the A82, approximately five miles north of Spean Bridge, are scheduled to begin on Sunday 15 September and will take place over five nights.

To allow the project to take place safely an overnight road closure is required from 8pm to 6am each night.  Due to the lack of a viable diversion route, traffic will be escorted through the site during amnesty periods at 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am, while emergency services will be able to pass through at all times.

The road will remain open as normal during the daytime and all traffic management will be removed.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “This project will greatly improve the road surface on this section of the A82 next to Loch Lochy, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.

“Due to the narrow width of the road here we have to close the road overnight for safety, however we’ve taken steps to limit any impact as much as possible by offering amnesty times when road users can safely pass through the work site.  We’ve also arranged for the project to take place overnight and avoid Friday and Saturday nights to further reduce disruption.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan their journeys ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on or twitter @trafficscotland.
