A835 Contin

Works begin on Sunday 3 November for five nights

Motorists using the A835 in Contin are set to benefit from a smoother road surface as surfacing improvements are set to get underway from Sunday night.

The £165,000 investment from Transport Scotland will see improvements to a 700m stretch of the A835, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

The overnight project is set to begin on Sunday 3 November and is programmed to take five nights to complete. The improvements will take place between 7pm and 7am each night with the project due to be completed by 7am Friday 8 November.

To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, there will be a 10mph convoy system in place during the overnight works. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.

Emergency services will be able to pass through at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These £165,000 surfacing improvements will help address the defects on this section of the A835 and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of road workers and road users, however we’ve taken steps to reduce disruption to motorists as much as possible by carrying out the surfacing improvements overnight.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank motorists for their patience in advance while we carry out these surfacing improvements. We would also encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
